FazePlaza Opens Its First Physical Store in Los Angeles
The gaming lifestyle brand brings its online universe into the real world.
FazePlaza officially opened the doors to its first-ever brick-and-mortar store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles this past weekend, and the turnout was nothing short of historic. Hundreds of devoted fans began lining up as early as 48 hours before the doors even opened, camping out with tents, sleeping bags, and portable gaming setups right on the sidewalk. By the time the ribbon was cut on Saturday morning, the line stretched nearly four city blocks โ a testament to just how deeply FazePlaza has embedded itself into the hearts and wallets of the next generation of gaming fans. The store itself is a marvel of modern retail design. Spanning a massive 5,000 square feet across two floors, the Melrose location was designed by renowned architectural studio NeonVault, the same team behind the iconic Complexcon pop-up spaces. The ground floor is a fully immersive retail experience, featuring wall-to-wall merchandise organized by creator โ each section decorated in the signature color palette and aesthetic of its respective FazePlaza talent. Fans can browse through exclusive hoodies, limited-edition sneakers, controller skins, desk accessories, and lifestyle goods that can't be found anywhere online. Every item in the store is either a limited drop or a store-exclusive, giving shoppers a genuine reason to show up in person rather than simply clicking "add to cart" from home. The second floor is where things get truly unique. FazePlaza has built out a fully operational content studio open to the public during designated hours, where fans can watch their favorite creators film videos, go live, and interact with their audiences in real time. There are four separate streaming pods, a green screen room, a podcast recording booth, and a large open-floor "collab zone" where multiple creators can work simultaneously. Visitors can book time slots in advance through the FazePlaza app to secure a front-row seat, and those lucky enough to be in the building during a live stream can even appear on camera during crowd segments.CEO Marcus "Phaze" Reyes, who founded FazePlaza out of his college dorm room back in 2019, was visibly emotional during the opening remarks. "Seven years ago I was editing videos on a $300 laptop and wondering if anyone would ever care," he told the crowd. "Today we're standing in a building that belongs to all of you. This is yours." The speech drew a standing ovation and was immediately clipped and shared across social media, racking up over 14 million views within the first 24 hours. The launch weekend also featured a series of exclusive events. Saturday evening saw a surprise performance from rapper and FazePlaza brand partner Lil Voltex, who dropped two unreleased tracks from his upcoming album. Sunday was dedicated to a full-day gaming tournament held on the store's lower floor, with fans competing in Fortnite, Rocket League, and the newly released FazePlaza-exclusive title "Grid Runners." Winners walked away with signed merchandise, store credit, and a golden FazePlaza membership card โ a new loyalty tier that grants early access to all future drops and events.Industry analysts have taken notice. Retail consultancy firm LevelUp Markets released a report Monday morning calling the FazePlaza store opening "the most significant moment in gaming lifestyle retail since the Supreme and gaming crossover of the early 2020s." The report highlighted the brand's ability to merge content creation, merchandise, community, and live entertainment into a single physical space โ something no other gaming brand has managed to execute at this scale.Plans for expansion are already in motion. FazePlaza confirmed during the opening weekend that a New York City location targeting SoHo is slated to open in Q3 of this year, with additional stores being scouted in London, Tokyo, and Dubai. "We're not just opening stores," Reyes explained in a post-event press conference. "We're building community hubs. Places where the online world becomes real. Where your avatar steps out of the screen and into real life." The brand has reportedly secured $35 million in Series C funding specifically earmarked for physical retail expansion, backed by a consortium of investors including several former NBA players and a major Korean entertainment conglomerate. The Melrose store is open seven days a week from 10am to 10pm, with extended hours during drop weekends and special events. Merchandise sells out fast โ the opening weekend's limited hoodie collection, priced at $120, sold out completely within 47 minutes of doors opening. Restocks are not guaranteed, keeping demand frenzied and resale prices already soaring on secondary markets. One particular jacket, the "Midnight Phaze" bomber in black and neon green, is already listing for over $600 on resale platforms โ nearly five times its original retail price. For now, FazePlaza's Melrose flagship stands as the clearest signal yet that this brand is no longer just an internet phenomenon. It is a full-blown cultural institution, and it is only just getting started.
