Club Constitution

Constitution of the Silverest Plaza Chess Club Approved at Inception
1. Name
The Silverest Plaza Chess Club.
Promote chess through recreational, educational and competitive activities. Non-discriminatory and democratic participation, equal rights for all. Annual registration with the Zambia Chess Federation. Active participation in LPCA League and other competitions.
May open banking accounts, raise funds through levies and subscriptions, make or receive donations, and affiliate with other chess bodies regionally or nationally.
Members must commit to the Club’s constitution via application. The Club may set conditions for admission, continuance or termination. Suspensions/terminations dealt with at a properly constituted meeting.
Executive committee: Chairperson (presides, casting vote, represents club), Secretary (minutes, records, correspondence), Treasurer (funds and accounts). Elected annually at the AGM. Quorum: minimum 3 elected members.
AGM held at least once per year with 21 days’ notice. Each paid-up member aged 18+ has one vote. Written proxies accepted. Quorum: 50% of eligible members.
Requires two-thirds majority at a properly constituted meeting. Exact wording appended to the 21-day notice.
Requires two-thirds majority at an SGM called with 30 days’ notice. Surplus funds disposed of as decided at that meeting.
